I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I did reduce by one star as the plausibility factor was sometimes stretched a little too far.I enjoyed the characters but I did find that the 'brilliant spy', Major Dancy was far too obtuse to have been effective in situations where his life depended on knowing and understanding the reality around him. I know the old plot device card is played with abandon many times but his continued foolishness in the face of assassination attempts et al was played well past reasonable levels.
I so thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Chen Mei and Amelia. It was a major factor in my enjoyment. I like a sweet, clean story and this one hit all the right buttons.

loved this book. it was super fun and silly. Dancy is my maiden name and I found this book when I googled my brother's name. I was looking for his blog and I saw this book. The guy in the book and my brother have the same name and it is spelled the same...
It is a great pleasure to find a Regency with a unusual story line. The characters were different and pleasant too. A very good book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was kind of predictable but was fast moving and fun to read. I would recommend
I liked this story but I definitely felt that both hero and heroine were teenagers. Secondary characters weren't very fleshed out. Nothing wrong with book but maybe it would hold more interest for a reader quite a bit younger than I am.
I wish I had listened to the reviews. The story was improbable. The constant referrals to Chinese Quotes was tiresome. The constant saving of the hero by the heroine was boring. The characters weren't interesting either. If I had read this book first I would not have read another of her books. I didn't finish the book.
I thought the 1st in the series (the Fasionable spy) was much better.
This book followed with the girl's brother's return from war. The storyline was less believable and the brother seemed to keep thinking being saved was a bad thing because a pretty girl was saving his life several times. That was a bit annoying. Other than that it was fine.
